The scope of works were to replace all of the external cladding to 3 elevations (East, South and West Elevation) of the station building, replace several structural timber supports and fully decorate the new installed cladding.

The project was programmed to be completed in 9 weeks. Despite battling the high winds over the Christmas period work was on track to be completed 3 weeks earlier.

Due to the good progress, we were asked to provide a quotation to re-clad part of the North elevation and again we were successful in securing only on the basis that we completed these additional works by the project end date of the original scope of works.

With the tight deadline, RTG Rail Services Ltd accepted the challenge and began preparing for the additional works.

Delivering all works on programme and to a high quality standard, this has opened the eyes to the railway industry that RTG Rail Services Ltd are not only a safety Critical and Isolation Supply company but are capable of delivering construction works also.

From the excellent performance of the RTG Rail Services Ltd staff, we were invited to tender for additional works direct for the TOC and are waiting feedback on our tender.

General Public

During our time onsite we were in constant contact with the general public. In the early days they would simply look as they passed by but as the construction pushed on the public started to stop and engage in conversation, and praise the works that had been completed.

We remember one elderly gentleman who came to site to view the works every couple days. Talking to the gentleman he told us that the building was built 150years ago by the MOD. He also told us that they only built in timber as there a very small demand for a station at that point and if the use of the station was to grow then they would knock it down and build a brick building, and yet 150years on we are still fixing to the original structure.
